The expand and collapse functionality is currently working fine but I'd like to modify the functionality so when I click on Expand 1
, and then click on Expand 2
, that Expand 1
should collapse automatically. This means that only one div
is allowed to be expanded at once while all the others should remain collapsed.
HTML:
<div class="container">
<div class="header"><span>Expand 1</span>
</div>
<div class="content">
<ul>
<li>This is just some random content.</li>
<li>This is just some random content.</li>
<li>This is just some random content.</li>
<li>This is just some random content.</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div class="header"><span>Expand 2</span>
</div>
<div class="content">
<ul>
<li>This is just some random content.</li>
<li>This is just some random content.</li>
<li>This is just some random content.</li>
<li>This is just some random content.</li>
</ul>
</div>
CSS
.container {
width:100%;
border:1px solid #d3d3d3;
}
.container div {
width:100%;
}
.container .header {
background-color:#d3d3d3;
padding: 2px;
cursor: pointer;
font-weight: bold;
}
.container .content {
display: none;
padding : 5px;
}
Jquery
$(".header").click(function () {
$header = $(this);
//getting the next element
$content = $header.next();
//open up the content needed - toggle the slide- if visible, slide up, if not slidedown.
$content.slideToggle(500, function () {
//execute this after slideToggle is done
//change text of header based on visibility of content div
$header.text(function () {
//change text based on condition
return $content.is(":visible") ? "Collapse" : "Expand";
});
});
});
