I want to make a peer-to-peer network and I want to store everyone's IP address on a file hosted on IPFS, Storj, or some other decentralized file storing service so the network is decentralized and everyone can have a connection with everyone as quickly as possible.

Whenever a new user joins the network, they add their IP to the file and whenever a user leaves, they remove their IP from the file.

I have some questions about this though...

  1. Will you consider this "decentralized"?
  2. What are the vulnerabilities? Is this safe?
  3. Is this a good idea, or a bad idea (security-wise)

What are your thoughts on this? I want to get more than one person's opinion on this.

Do you not immediately see how letting anybody arbitrarily modify the file would be a vulnerability? - Sneftel
Fair, how do I edit it though without this vulnerability? Is there a way to get around this? - anonymous_user
