I've been looking into purchasing a domain name and a question has arose. How can I create my own website domain for free without using another service. Services like Google Domains, Godaddy, Namecheap work where you essentially pay them money and you then own a domain name which you then have to pay a subscription for. How would I able to do this? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Y.Z.

Your question is offtopic here as not related to programming but you are mixing at least 3 different things, that can be provided by same company, or not, but are factually different job: a domain name registrar (where you go to buy a domain and change its settings over its life), a DNS provider (to make your domain resolve and map a given name under your domain such as www.example.com to a given IP address) and a web provider (that will host the content you want, and whose IP address appears at the previous step). None of these jobs are free (think of people behind them, and servers...) - Patrick Mevzek
