"fatal error N1002: Out of Memory" : Failed to build UWP release after successfully generated mdilexe

Question

1. Summary
I have a UWP project in cross platform Xamarin(with Microsoft Visual Studio Enterprise 2019 Version 16.6.0) solution, library using .Net Standard 2.0, UWP using latest Windows 10 version 1903(build 18362), and it can run successfully when debug (also Android project can debug successfully in real hand phone). But when I change to release and create app packages, it failed for "Out of memory". The build process nearly 15 minutes, and the system memory (12G) finally run out until fail. The compiler successfully generated mdilexe, but suddenly fail. This maybe a new error, I cann't find any similar case.

3. What I have done
I have checked or try all these steps bellow follow the tip in stackoverflow or website, but didn't work:

• Make sure only ASCII in path and filename
• Make sure no dotfuscator
• Reinstall visual studio tools and upgrade
• Make sure has added in default.rd.xml
• Build in same system account as coding
• Update all NuGet packages
• Have try in Visual Studio Enterprise 2019 preview Version 16.7.0 Preview 1.0, and also failed
• Remove every analyser

Finally, I solved this issues partly, by disable reflection and serialize. It's time consuming for the comply need more than 10 minutes each time. I share my steps here.

1. I reached at Compiling Apps with .NET Native, it's really helpful. I had checked or modified code to ensure:

   • Remove Binary/XML serialize, replace by user define serialize
   • No Dynamic creation of multidimensional arrays
   • No Dynamic type
   • Remove potential Infinite generic type expansion, such as:

   public abstract class LoadRangeBase : IDataLoadRange where TLoadLange : LoadRangeBase, new()

But comply still failed.

2.Comply on another machine has 24G memory, still failed. The compiler maybe is 32bit, more memory is useless

3.Split Solution to TWO solutions. Each solution comply SUCCESSED. I'm really amazed. So build fail definitely NOT caused by Infinite generic type expansion, build fail is not caused by code. During the comply, I found each solution occupied more than 2G memory, and the size of reflectionlog.csv is more than 900M. My code is a type system base on generic abstraction classes, I guess it maybe really out of memory for more memory needed to process reflection and serialize. So .NET Native tool chain maybe should upgrade to 64bit.

4.Try to reduce the memory usage

• remove not needed or not directed referenced NuGet packages or projects
• Modify rd.xml according to Runtime Directives (rd.xml) Configuration File Reference, delete <Assembly Name="*Application*" Dynamic="Required All" />, and add <Namespace Name="YourNamespace" Dynamic="Excluded" Serialize="Excluded" /> , to avoid reflection and serialize. Build success, and the msix file size generally reduced by 5-6M.

At last, my suggestion is pay attention to generic type in UWP.
