Application insights page views and requests are not being logged

I manually installed Application Insights into an already existing ASP.Net MVC webapplication and added an instrumentation key to the config file. This is all fine as I can see a ton of dependency data showing up in the Azure portal.

However, page views or requests are not being picked in the dashboard, nor in Visual Studio itself. So I'm wondering, did I miss something in the configuration?

Did you use the applicationinsights.web nuget package or one of the base ones? The web package also makes modifications to web.config to add itself into the asp.net pipeline. If you're seeing dependencies, then some things are getting loaded, but possibly not the request collector.

If you manually added application insights to the project, you'll also have to manually add the javascript part somewhere to your application (usually to a master page or template, depending on how your app works)

you won't see pageviews inside tools inside VS, since the browser is sending those events to application insights directly, instead of them happening in the asp.net code.
