Providing Provisioning Script for softlayer VM

Question

When launching a vm there is no file in the root directory and the provisioning script does not get run, as the documentation says it should be (https://sldn.softlayer.com/blog/jarteche/Getting-Started-User-Data-and-Post-Provisioning-Scripts). This is the request I am using to create the server.

The provisionScript URL you set is too long. Are you able to download the file using browsers like firefox or chrome? — Albert Camacho
Yes, If I put the URL in a browser I get back the expected bash script. — Ashley Schuett

Please review your emails, an email is send when download fails. Also, I noticed you are using a dynamic URL and this behavior may be related to this. I recommend you to use an static url if possible.

If you want to try to download the file again, I recommend you to use the method SoftLayer_Virtual_Guest::executeRemoteScript. This returns NULL when success and an exception like this if fails:

Script download failed. Could not confirm file downloaded correctly.

You can use following REST call:

https://[username]:[apikey]@api.softlayer.com/rest/v3/SoftLayer_Virtual_Guest/[device_id]/executeRemoteScript

Don't forget change [username], [apikey], [device_id] with your own data. Note that [device_id] is the id of your Virtual Guest.
