Error when adding “spring-boot-starter-data-jpa” dependency to Spring project

I'm practising Spring with Spring Tool Suite. I've been trying to connect my project to database.

However, whenever I add "spring-boot-starter-data-jpa" dependency to pom.xml the project won't start and I get the following errors. The error doesn't occur once I remove the dependency. I have no idea why they are happening. Here are the following errors:

I tried updating Maven and validating the project but the error persists.

Try mvn dependency:purge-local-repository that will re-download (on the next build) all dependencies. Also instead of hibernate-validator use the spring-boot-starter-validation and instead of the com.sun.mail dependency use the spring-boot-starter-mail dependency. - M. Deinum

Even I encountered the same error. The process i followed as below, let you try and check whether it works out..

  1. Just remove the below lines from pom.xml

    org.springframework.boot spring-boot-starter-data-jpa

  2. Just downloaded the JAR from the link below and added to the build path of your project. http://www.java2s.com/Code/JarDownload/eclipselink/eclipselink-javax.persistence-2.0.jar.zip

  3. Now run the maven build. Hopefully It should work out.
