I have a API Artifact in WSO2 ESB 4.9.0 offering a simple PUT REST Service.

The PUT Service simplified here a log of the incoming request and then should respond with HTTP Code 200 without any content.

This is the API resource:

<api xmlns="http://ws.apache.org/ns/synapse" name="myapi" context="/context">
    <resource methods="PUT" uri-template="/resource">
        <inSequence>
            <log level="custom">
                <property name="PUT" value="/v1/updateWorkflowData" />
            </log>
            <property name="NO_ENTITY_BODY" value="true" scope="axis2" />
            <property name="HTTP_SC" value="200" scope="axis2" />
            <respond />
        </inSequence>
    </resource>
</api>

With the property "NO_ENTITY_BODY" to true (which is being used in GET Requests) I get the following exception:

My Question is now:

  1. General: How to set the response to empty when the request does contain some content?
  2. Is my solution with the "NO_ENTITY_BODY" wrong and does not work?

1) You can use a script mediator to replace the response body with an empty string. There could be other ways to do this too. Script mediator is an option.

2) "NO_ENTITY_BODY" is used to specify that you expect a response from a request which does not have a body. For example a GET request.

NO_ENTITY_BODY expects to be boolean value thus you have to add type attribute:

<property name="NO_ENTITY_BODY" value="true" scope="axis2" type="BOOLEAN" />
