I am trying to run a simple chat application from this tutorial: http://www.binarytides.com/websockets-php-tutorial/

I am using XAMPP localhost Apache with ports 80 and 443.

I keep getting: WebSocket connection to 'ws://localhost/IceEscape/server.php/websocket' failed: Error during WebSocket handshake: Unexpected response code: 200

What do I change to resolve this?

I have tried toying with the

I gave up completely on php. I have moved to C# on the backend. Sorry.Stanislaw T
I managed to set up a WebSocket-supported environment in the meantime for PHP and Apache, if you are interested. For .NET you can use SignalR if your IIS supports it.Lajos Arpad

You need to check the following:

  • Apache allows requests to files with the .ws extension
  • Your WebSocket module's .so file is copied into the correct location
  • Your WebSocket module is switched on
  • There is no setting in your .conf and/or .htaccess file which prevents the request
  • PHP version is new-enough to support your PHP extension
  • Your PHP extension is copied into the correct location
  • Your PHP extension is switched on
  • Everything you needed to install is installed
  • Your IPC file works well and is fresh
  • Your SymLinks, if any are correct
  • All the paths having any role in WebSocket usage are correct

I know you have left PHP for .NET, but if you or anybody else want to solve this issue, then this is my suggestion as ideas to do so. At least this is how I solved my similar problem.
