Question 2 - Own Constraint using Coproduct

What I really wanted to do is to write a new constraint using Coproduct.

working on the implicit resolution of CPConstraint. Having val hlLong: ::[Long, HNil] = 1L :: HNil and implicitly looking up a CPConstraint for it with implicit val cpcLong = implicitly[CPConstraint[hlLong.type, CPType]] I tried implicit val scpcEmptyLong1: CPConstraint[::[Long,HNil], CPType] = new CPConstraint[::[Long,HNil], CPType] {}, which does NOT fit the implicit searched but implicit val scpcEmptyLong2: CPConstraint[hlLong.type, CPType] = new CPConstraint[hlLong.type, CPType] {} would. - WHY??? What's the difference?sthielo
::[Long,HNil] <=> Long :: HNilReactormonk

While experimenting ... I got it working:

This answer is shamelessly copied from gitter, all credit to @SystemFW.

Use the LiftAll witness, like so:

import shapeless._, ops.hlist.LiftAll, ops.coproduct.Inject

type Cop = Int :+: Long :+: CNil

def foo[H <: HList](implicit ev: LiftAll[Inject[Cop,?], H]) = null

foo[Int :: Long :: HNil]
foo[HNil]
foo[Int :: Int :: HNil]
//foo[Int :: Long :: String :: HNil] doesn't compile

Where Inject[Cop,?] is type I[X] = Inject[Cop,X] (or you can use the kind projector plugin for the ? syntax).
