That can't be the config.log file.Some programmer dude
@JoachimPileborg yeah it is configure.log not config.logtheyCallMeJun
Yes, and the actual log is in config.log. You need to check it. It shows the actual command the configure script runs, and the actual errors.Some programmer dude
@JoachimPileborg i have included config.log file why are you voting down the question?theyCallMeJun
I wanted the original config.log file, to see why gcc failed. Changing compiler is, I think, just sidestepping the actual issue.Some programmer dude

Logs don't lie! configure.log is what i need to get to the root of the problem. The issue is this:

gcc checking whether the C compiler works... no

The simple answer to this is just

sudo apt-get install clang && rvm install 1.9.3 --with-gcc=clang

Works perfectly!

I solved it by

ln -s /usr/bin/gcc /usr/bin/gcc-apple-4.2

Installing g++ compiler solved this problem for me.

In my case, the issue is due to the customized LDFLAGS. I was compiling one of python packages. Because my python is installed in a customized location, I had to temporarily set the LDFLAGS variable env. As soon as I unset this env variable, the problem went away. So FYI.
