My images are looking quite blurry on the new MacBook Pro with Retina display (220 PPI). Increasing the resolution of the images to 220 PPI doesn't seem to work, as if the browser completely ignores the PPI of the image. After reading this and this, it seems that there is no simple workaround. However, I just couldn't bring myself to believe that there was no clean solution, so I'm raising the issue again in hopes that someone knows of a better workaround than creating double-sized duplicates of each image and using media queries for image selection (or using SVGs, which isn't possible for my current application).

Browsers don't care about DPI or PPI (which is implemented synonymously afaik). They generally use 96.
