Java - validate email with InternetAddress

I got this method:

public static boolean isValidEmailAddress(String email) {
       boolean result = true;
       try {
          InternetAddress emailAddr = new InternetAddress(email);
          emailAddr.validate();
       } catch (AddressException ex) {
          result = false;
       }
       return result;
}

but that give me this exception:

make sure that the email parameter you are passing is not null

It works for me- check to see if you are actually passing a valid string. It appears you are sending null as your email parameter

Try following code: 

java.net.IDN.toASCII    

public static boolean isValidEmail(String email) {
    boolean result = true;
    try {
        InternetAddress emailAddr = new InternetAddress(java.net.IDN.toASCII(email));
        emailAddr.validate();
    } catch (AddressException ex) {
        result = false;
    }
    System.out.println("==> "+result+" : "+email);
    return result;
}
